About Raithby Chapel
Wesley's Chapel, Raithby-by-Spilsby, is the oldest Methodist Chapel in LIncolnshire and one of the oldest in the country still in use for worship. This Grade 1 listed building was built in 1779 for John Wesley by his friend and fellow worker Robert Carr Brackenbury over the stables in the grounds of Raithby Hall. It remains in the ownership of the hall, although the 'people called Methodists' continue to have the right to use it for worship.
This beautiful historic building is cared for by a management committee and welcomes visitors.
Annual events include services for Wesley Day (24th May), Easter and Advent, plus the Brackenbury Lecture (2nd Saturday in July) and Heritage Open Days in September.
